With a culturally diverse campus life and extensive international exchange and research programs, UTS prepares graduates for the workplaces of today and tomorrow.The UTS Global Big Data Technologies Centre (GBDTC) is looking to recruit a part time Office Administrator to support the Centre Operations manager with general office, research and financial administration, marketing and promotional activities. The role will also include a small portion of Executive Assistant support for the Centre Director.
The Global Big Data Technologies Centre is a relatively new university research centre and is based within the university’s Faculty of Engineering and IT. It positions itself as an international centre of excellence in big data technologies research and a global platform to make major impact to industry. It has 33 academic members of staff, over 120 PhD students, and over 12 external distinguished associates.
The Centre Administration Officer will provide professional administrative support for the Global Big Data Technologies Centre (GBDTC) and contribute to its efficient and effective operation by providing accurate, responsive and timely advice and assistance to staff and Research Students. The position will also help to ensure that key projects and processes are on track to meet deadlines and completed in accordance with University policies.
Main responsibilities include:
Support Centre Manager with financial administration including monitoring of Centre accounts and budgets (e.g. Operating and Research account tracking)
Initiate and implement process improvement as required, including review of current processing and making recommendation in line with University Policy
Administer financial processes for academic projects (including raising purchase orders, liaising with Central Finance.)
Provide accurate advice and support on the effective use of specific research processes, standards, templates and guidelines
Provide research project support including, but not limited to, the review of research project documentation for compliance
Provide advice and assistance to academic staff for research related activities
Assist with, and track Honorary Appointment (Visitor) and Adjunct Professor applications
Raising requisitions/purchase orders and ensuring timely processing and payment of outstanding supplier invoices
Basic diary management, Travel bookings and Credit card and expense reconciliations
To be successful in the role, the following experience is required:
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Demonstrated ability to draft complex and/or confidential correspondence
Demonstrated ability to develop and redesign administrative processes
Well?developed critical analysis, planning and problem solving skills
Ability to deal with competing priorities
Excellent attention to detail

Remuneration & Benefits: Base Salary Range: $67,614 to $77,351 p.a. Pro-Rata (HEW 5)
This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.
This position is part time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
